What benefit does the gas permeable films allow?

The configuration and materials used to manufacture CLINIcell® allows for easy and simultaneous
gas diffusion on both sides which induce a very interesting pH stabilization effect while limiting oxidation of the medium during the culture.

Can I co-culture in this system?

As for conventional laboratory dishes, CLINIcell® allows co-cultures between different cell types in the same culture system. “The advantage of CLINIcell® for co-culture development is the possibility to co-culture two different cell populations separately inside one cassette. A first adherent cell type is plated on one film to grow, then another cell type (adherent or non-adherent) is plated in a second seeding step on the other film after turning the cassette upside down.”

How do I recover adherent cells from CLINIcell®?

As for conventional laboratory dishes, adherent cells can be recovered from CLINIcell® by standard enzymatic or non-enzymatic based treatments.

Can I re-use CLINIcell®?

To guarantee the best level of biocompatibility, CLINIcell® is a single use system that cannot be re-sterilised.

Can I use CLINIcell® under the microscope to monitor the culture?

Permeable film have been carefully selected to allow clear observation of cells in culture and it is even possible to have phase contrast for a better visual analysis of cell morphology.
I use Flasks and other similar culture systems.

Will using CLINIcell® take more time to manipulate?

With CLINIcell®, all manipulation steps are made using a syringe” As a consequence CLINIcell
® manipulation takes a little longer than conventional laboratory dishes but improves the security in term of micro-organism contamination risks.

Will the port aperture allow large cells to easily pass without obstruction?

To allow a wide range of applications and a greater flexibility, the minimum internal diameter of the access ports (tubing and two way valve) is of 2mm which is compatible with injection and recovery of large cells, spheroids and even micro carriers. This is the same diameter as the exit port of a standard syringe.

Can CLINIcell® be connected to other culture systems for perfusion and / or
supernatant recovery?

CLINIcell® culture cassette has been specially design to adapt with new technological approaches
including high density and three dimensional cell cultures which can necessitate perfusion or frequent medium renewal. The standard “Luer lock” connectors used for CLINIcell
® access ports are compatible with most perfusion systems and we can help you developing
a complete customized system to suit your specific applications.

After culturing, can I freeze the cell suspension filled CLINIcell®?

CLINIcell® 25 and CLINIcell® 250 culture cassette can both be frozen at -80°C with 5
to 10 ml and 80 to 160 ml of medium respectively. We do NOT recommend not to use
liquid nitrogen.

Is CLINIcell® compatible with micro-carrier or porous materials use?

CLINIcell® culture cassette has been specially design to allow new methodological
approaches including high density and three-dimensional cell cultures like spheroids and micro-carriers, It is also possible to incorporate your specific matrixes within CLINIcell® to obtain the most simple laboratory scale bioreactor.

Is CLINIcell® compatible with coating procedures?

The film used in the manufacture of CLINIcell® can be pre-coated by the manipulator with different proteins (like extra-cellular matrix proteins) to enhance specific cell adhesion properties
of the culture surfaces inside CLINIcell®.

Can I centrifuge the CLINIcell®?

CLINIcell® is compatible with centrifugation up to 1500 G.
